MDHHS Shares Updated Testing Reimbursement Guidance

The Michigan Department of Health & Human Services (MDHHS) updated Nursing Home COVID-19 Testing Financial Guidance in the Nursing Home COVID-19 Plan. Please note in particular the following change in submission email below and important reminder about submission of confidential or sensitive data:

Effective July 6th, all Nursing homes should begin submitting their testing reimbursement forms to the Bureau of Audit at: MDHHS-SNF-Testing-Financial@michigan.gov.

Please submit the testing reimbursement forms only. Please do NOT send any confidential information or beneficiary specific data to the above email.

The updated documents include:

Financial Guidance: Nursing Home Testing - Financial Implications 7.01.20
Reimbursement Form: Testing Reimbursement Form 2.0 (Secure)

MDHHS also clarified that that any facility that completes the testing in-house is eligible for specimen collection reimbursement by the State. This includes those being supported by the National Guard with test kit drop-offs.

Most of Michigan Remains at Phase 4 For Now Per Governor Whitmer

Governor Whitmer shared today that despite her intent to move the state to Phase 5 before July 4th, with the recent surge in positive cases the rest of the state will not join the Upper Peninsula and northern Lower Peninsula just yet.  Yesterday, the Lansing Region was moved to High Risk status and the Grand Rapids Region moved to Medium High Risk status.  Whitmer is awaiting additional data and has shared more restrictions may be re-imposed based on the surge.  In the meantime, she and Dr. Joneigh Khaldun, Chief Medical Executive, continue to encourage the use of masks in public areas or when around others.
