| IQVIA in Collaboration to Accelerate Lifesaving Vaccine Research IQVIA, a leading global provider of advanced analytics, technological solutions and clinical research services, is engaged in a collaboration with The Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) to advance the 100 Day Mission, an initiative backed by the G7 and G20 nations to accelerate the time taken to develop safe, effective globally accessible vaccines against emerging disease outbreaks to within 100 days.
The IQVIA-CEPI partnership aims to enhance the world's preparedness to rapidly conduct lifesaving clinical research for vaccines and other biological countermeasures against emerging infectious diseases. CEPI will harness IQVIA's extensive clinical research expertise and innovative solutions to support its goal of strengthening pandemic preparedness clinical research capabilities in low- and middle-income countries to accelerate vaccine development when faced with future viral threats
Alistair Grenfell, President, Europe, Middle East, Africa and South Asia for IQVIA, a Healthcare Leadership Council member, said, "Recent pandemics have highlighted the lifesaving effect that fast development, testing and manufacturing of effective vaccines can have on the global community. IQVIA's collaboration with CEPI will support the 100 Days Mission in delivering transformative healthcare worldwide." |
Fairview Health System Working with Schools to Address Opioid Overdoses
To address the continuing opioid crisis affecting young people in Minnesota - overdose deaths among young Minnesotans rose 49 percent last year alone, Fairview Health System is taking a proactive approach to reach students, the age group with the third highest number of nonfatal emergency department visits for opioid-involved overdoses. Fairview is a member of the Healthcare Leadership Council.
M Health Fairview, part of the Fairview Health System, recently led a naloxone training and kit-packing event for students at Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis. A group of students from Roosevelt's Health Careers program learned how naloxone, commonly known as Narcan, can be used to reverse an opioid overdose and save lives outside of school in their communities. A major goal of the training was to educate young people about opioids and to encourage open and honest dialogue about substance use, addiction and mental health.
Ingrid Johansen, RN, Director of Community Clinical Care for M Health Fairview said, "These students now have the education and tools they need to be able to save a life. Students are here because they're interested in careers in healthcare, but also because this work really speaks to them. La'Anna Johnson, RN, a professional development specialist with M Health Fairview, said, "We have an opioid problem in Minnesota and beyond, and what these students did today helps us work toward solving that problem."
