COVID-19 has brought a challenge to everyone's way of life. None of us have been immune, but no change is so much more apparent as a medically vulnerable older adult. Older adults who are medically vulnerable are not only more susceptible to COVID-19, but their chances of serious illness and death are also much higher.
That's why, through Families First Coronavirus Response Funding and the CARES Act, we have increased our nutrition programming to over 400 people, and we continue to increase today. But we need your help to do this. Congress has yet to pass another stimulus bill to provide much needed relief to Area Agencies on Aging who are providing meals to older adults wishing to self-isolate.
Four out of the eight Area Agencies on Aging in Arizona are either out of COVID-19 emergency funding altogether or they are dangerously close to running out. The results could be catastrophic. Without additional emergency funding, potentially thousands of people statewide could lose access to much needed food.
We need your help! Take action today by telling your Senators and Members of Congress to include additional funding for nutrition for older adults in their next stimulus relief bill. Aside from government funding that we receive, PCOA is a non-profit organization supported by generous people like you. Click here to make a donation today! |
