Dear Linda,

For National Suicide Prevention Week, we challenged advocates to contact elected officials at all levels of government across the country, urging them to support initiatives and policies that can save lives.

Thank you to all of the Field Advocates that participated! You shared your stories through thousands of emails and phone calls and social media posts, to bring awareness that suicide is preventable and that we, together, can work towards making positive changes to prevent one of this country's leading causes of death.

We are pleased to inform you that your voice is being heard.

Last Thursday, September 13, the House and Senate Appropriations Conference increased crucial suicide prevention funding to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (1-800-273-TALK), the National Strategy for Suicide Prevention, and over $55 million in additional research funding through the National Institute of Mental Health.

There is much more work to be done. Later this week, Congress will designate the month of September as "National Suicide Prevention Month," and we will continue to advocate for funding and policies that we know can bring hope and prevent suicide.Thank you for your advocacy.

All the best,

Your Public Policy Team
