| Successful Chronic Disease Management Enables Advocate Health to Reach Top in Medicare Savings
Leveraging quality care for patients to achieve greater affordability, Advocate Health - a Healthcare Leadership Council member - generated over $128 million in total savings through the Medicare Shared Savings Program in 2022, the most in the country among integrated delivery networks.
The health system credits its success to the hard work of its physicians, advanced practice providers and nurses, supported by a best-in-class network of care managers, social workers, pharmacists and other healthcare professionals working together to help patients manage their chronic conditions. These experts help people overcome barriers that might prevent access to medications, specialty visits or other care that they need, and serve as a support network as patients take steps to make healthy lifestyle changes. Advocate professionals are also helping patients with the transition when they leave the hospital, ensuring that they and their loved ones understand the medications, follow-up visits and additional care that will be necessary.
Advocate Health CEO Jim Skogsbergh said, "Relentlessly closing care gaps and managing chronic conditions helped keep our patients out of the hospital, leading to both more healthy days with their families and overall cost savings. Thank you to our physicians, nurses and teammates, whose expertise and commitment make a meaningful difference in our patients' quality of life." |
Janssen Pharmaceuticals Launches Campaign to Increase Support for Those Who Care for Multiple Myeloma Patients
The Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson, a Healthcare Leadership Council member, has announced the launch of Make It HAPPen, a multiyear national campaign designed to recognize and support Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) in the life-changing care they provide to people living with multiply myeloma. A recently-released survey found that APPs - specifically nurse practitioners and physician assistants with advanced degrees, wish they had more knowledge about multiple myeloma, a rare blood cancer.
Inspired by the multitude of ways in which APPs improve patient care, the Make It HAPPen campaign is focused on further improving outcomes in multiple myeloma by providing APPs with credible, streamlined and tailored resources, supporting them in their careers and recognizing their critical role in improving multiple myeloma care. Janssen is undertaking the campaign in collaboration with the Advanced Practitioner Society for Hematology and Oncology.
Tyrone Brewer, U.S. President, Oncology for Janssen Biotech said, "APPs are a critical part of any care team and are trusted partners to hematologists and oncologists, with whom they work side-by-side. Patients rely on APPs for resources and support to help them navigate the difficult journey of a cancer diagnosis and treatment while striving to maintain their quality of life." |
