Nursing Facility Testing Reimbursement Forms Can Be Submitted Starting Today
Beginning today, nursing facilities can begin submitting Testing Reimbursement Forms to the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services (MDHHS). Forms are to be submitted to the Bureau of Audit at: MDHHS-SNF-Testing-Financial@michigan.gov. Please submit the testing reimbursement form only, do NOT send any confidential information or beneficiary specific data to the above email.
The form requires your SIGMA ID number which can be found in CHAMPS;
- Go to Provider Enrollment Agreement in CHAMPS
- Manage Provider Enrollment Agreement
- Go to Step 1 open it and inside that it shows the SIGMA Vendor ID on the right
As well as the Facility County Code License number, which can be found on your facility license.
MDHHS also clarified that that any facility that completes the testing in-house is eligible for specimen collection reimbursement by the State. This includes those being supported by the National Guard with test kit drop-offs.
Electronic License Renewal
License renewal for health facilities is active and available exclusively online at www.michigan.gov/elicense.
All hospitals, hospice agencies and residences, nursing homes, psychiatric hospitals/units, freestanding surgical outpatient facilities, and substance use disorder services programs must complete license renewal. Homes for the Aged facilities are not included in this renewal communication. Adult Foster Care is not a health facility and also not included.
Facilities just need to locate the license/permanent ID number from the current license and complete the following steps:
- Go to www.michigan.gov/elicense
- Scroll down to bottom of the page and select Renew a Health Facility License.
- Enter the license number in the Permanent ID field and select the Login button by clicking on it. Note: Pushing the return button on the keyboard will not work for this step.
- Select Pay For License on the menu on the left side.
- Select Continue in the upper left corner of the box containing the license information.
- Follow the prompts to provide electronic payment information for the license renewal fee.
- Print the receipt for the payment, this is the only opportunity to print a receipt for the payment.
It takes approximately three weeks from the point of payment until the paper copy of the license is received through the mail.
If a state license is not renewed on or before the expiration date of July 31, 2020, the license is expired in accordance with MCL 333.20164, 333.6238, and 333.1137, as applicable by license type. Therefore, the license will be null and void on August 1, 2020.

CDC Releases Warnings On Methanol Based Hand Sanitizers
The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) issued a Health Alert July 5 2020 related to the use of methanol based hand sanitizers. Most commercially available alcohol-based hand sanitizers or rubs (ABHSR) contain either ethanol or isopropanol as active ingredients. On June 19, 2020, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) advised consumers not to use any hand sanitizer manufactured by "Eskbiochem SA de CV" in Mexico, due to the potential presence of methanol, a "toxic alcohol", as an active ingredient, which can cause blindness and/or death when absorbed through the skin or when swallowed. Since then, FDA has identified additional ABHSR products that contain methanol and is working with manufacturers and distributors on a voluntary recall of these products.
The public is advised to:
- Seek immediate medical attention and contact their poison center (1-800-222-1222) for advice if they have swallowed an ABHSR product or are experiencing symptoms from repeated use of these products that are on the "FDA's testing and manufacturer's recalls" list,
- Stop using any ABHSR that are on the "FDA's testing and manufacturer's recalls" list because using these methanol-containing products may result in serious adverse health events (e.g., blindness and death), and
- NEVER swallow ABHSR and only use them for their intended purpose. Clinicians should be highly suspicious of methanol poisoning when a patient presents with a history of ABHSR ingestion, compatible signs and symptoms, and laboratory findings.
naviHealth Launches New Platform
naviHealth created an easy-to-use platform called nH Access that enhances your naviHealth patient documentation and authorization tracking experience.
nH Access is a secure web-based platform where you can:
- Submit patient authorization requests and monitor the status of those requests on-demand, and in real time.
- Access patient information and discharge documentation completion requirements in real time.
- Upload and submit patient documentation needed for authorizations, or as requested by naviHealth colleagues.
- Communicate with naviHealth colleagues through secure messaging for questions, confirmations and change requests.
- To learn more visit the nH Access Resource Center.
Enrollment:
The first step is for naviHealth to credential your end-users. To initiate, please download the user-provisioning spreadsheet located here and submit to addUsers_nHAccess@navihealth.com. Please allow 3-5 days for provisioning to be completed by naviHealth Customer Support.
Account activation:
Once naviHealth Customer Support receives and processes your user-provisioning spreadsheet, you will then receive an e-mail from OneLogin that will guide you on personal user account activation steps. If you are a manager, please ensure that each of your team members receives this email prior to your facility's go-live. It's possible that the email could be routed to a spam or junk email box. For any issues with account activation, please contact Support.nHAccess@naviHealth.com.
Attend virtual training:
Though not required, naviHealth highly recommends that each future nH Access user attend a formal training on how to best use the tool. These sessions are offered on a weekly basis where users will be provided a demonstration of nH Access -- ensuring comprehension of the platform's key functionality and setting up each facility for success! Please have each end-user register here.
Go-Live:
Once you have an active account, you can officially start using nH Access to submit patient authorizations, exchange ongoing documentation and communicate as needed with naviHealth colleagues!
Post Go-Live Support:
If you are experiencing any issues with nH Access from a functionality perspective, please contact naviHealth Customer Support at Support.nHAccess@naviHealth.com. In addition, your facility's naviHealth clinical representatives and provider-relations team members are equipped to answer process questions that might arise.
