Data Sharing and Disaster Readiness Report Release
A collaboration of leading healthcare companies, working with experts from academia, industry and federal agencies, has developed recommendations HLC will release at this webinar on how to improve the dissemination of critical data during public health emergencies. The COVID-19 pandemic made clear that, if data sharing systems and processes are not in place prior to a crisis, it is difficult to establish them in the midst of disaster response. The Healthcare Leadership Council report focuses on the importance of the private sector taking the lead in launching data sharing initiatives, defining essential elements of information for priority emergency cases, and creating a more structured, formalized approach for establishing data use agreements prior to an emergency occurring.

| Leidos Addresses Mental Health Literacy for Teenagers According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, American teenagers are experiencing unprecedented levels of mental distress and, according to the U.S. Surgeon General, mental health disorders are the leading cause of disability and poor life outcomes among young people. Leidos, a Healthcare Leadership Council member, is working to address the teenage mental health crisis.
Leidos has been working with EVERFI from Blackbaud, an organization tackling social issues through education and technology, to empower teenagers in Maryland and West Virginia with mental health literacy. Through their partnership, nearly 3,500 middle school and high school students have completed a first-of-its-kind digital learning course called Understanding Mental Illness. After completing the course, 90 percent of students say they feel more confident in managing a mental health crisis and 83 percent say they have a better understanding of how to stay mentally healthy.
Daniel Pellegrom, Leidos Director of Environment, Sustainability and Governance said, "Supporting youth is so important when we're talking about this crisis. What I love about this strategic partnership is it allows us to act locally, impact our communities and help give our children the support they need." The program is part of Leidos's broader Mission for the Mind campaign to advance mental health solutions. |
