Governor Whitmer Extends Visitation Restrictions

Late yesterday, August 28, 2020, Governor Whitmer issued Executive Order 2020-174 continuing the restrictions on visitation for nursing facilities, assisted living settings, congregate care facilities, and juvenile justice facilities.  This current Executive Order extends these restrictions through September 30, 2020.

The previously issued Epidemiologic Order, released by Michigan Department of Health & Human Services (MDHHS) Director Gordon on June 30, 2020 remains in effect until rescinded.  This order clarifies exceptions to the visitation restrictions, allowing for compassionate care visits that encompass end of life situations, residents receiving hospice services, and certain Activities of Daily Living (ADL) support such as assistance at mealtime.
