Last year federal funding for aging services increased by over $100 million nationwide. Here in Pima County, that means more people will receive critical services like Pima Meals on Wheels home-delivered lunch, legal aid, help with bathing, dressing, housekeeping, shopping, and so much more. Your advocacy efforts have helped more older adults in Arizona remain in their own homes safely and for as long as possible, but we need your help to keep the momentum going.
The House and Senate Appropriations Committees are nearly finished considering their respective FY 2019 federal funding bills, and the Labor Health and Human Services funding bills (Labor-HHS) look very promising for older adult services. We are encouraged by the positive advancement of the Labor-HHS funding proposal.
We need your help to reach our members of Congress and encourage them to support this funding bill. Please call your member of Congress' office today and ask them to support the Labor-HHS funding bills. A vote in support of Labor-HHS funding keeps core services alive for various programs that help older adults every day, like the Older Americans Act, State Health Insurance Assistance Program (Medicare Counseling), Community Development Block Grant (Home-delivered Meals), Senior Corps (Senior Companions Program), and much more.
