Amgen Support Will Expand Access to Science Education
The Amgen Foundation has announced a $30 million commitment - in addition to $13 million previously donated - to LabXchange, an online science education platform that provides users with access to high-quality science education resources at no cost. LabXchange helps educators and students discover, engage with, and share curated and personalized online lab experiments, interactive lessons and videos. The organization's goal is to grow its global science classroom to 50 million users by 2025.
The Amgen support will enable LabXchange to expand and deepen its collaborations with STEM organizations worldwide, and pursue opportunities to serve more learners, particularly in communities that are underserved. The resources will fund the development of more data science, biotechnology and environmental content and increase content offerings that address racial inequalities in healthcare, education and STEM. Judy Brown, senior vice president of corporate affairs for Amgen and chair of the Amgen Foundation, said, "By overcoming barriers of cost and geographical location, LabXchange is helping to level the playing field so learners of all ages everywhere have access to world-class science education." |
Teladoc Takes Virtual Care to New Levels with Care Coordination, In-Home Services Teladoc, a Healthcare Leadership Council member, has announced expanded capabilities in its Primary360 program that will further remove barriers to care access and increase convenience through a seamless, comprehensive primary care experience that meets people where they are. Primary360 members will now receive health plan in-network referrals and care coordination support, free same-day medication delivery, and in-home, on-demand laboratory collection services.
Care coordination capabilities empower physician-led care teams to share information and make streamlined referrals to internal Teladoc Health service and programs. These care teams provide integrated clinical navigation, ensuring that medical needs are resolved within a member's health plan provider network when in-person care is required. With data showing approximately 50 percent of consumers fail to pick up their prescriptions, Primary360's free at-home medication delivery will make it easier for consumers to get, manage, and adhere to their prescribed medicines. And the in-home lab collection services will provide value to those lacking accessible transportation options, enabling patient to complete tests on their own schedule and in a place they feel most comfortable.
Kelly Bliss, president of U.S. Group Health for Teladoc said, "virtual care is a driver in reducing barriers to healthcare access and we embrace the opportunity and the responsibility to further advance health equity with Primary360." |
